Worried

I think life is fair.
When you have a disciplined kid who gives you the least worry, you'd also have one who is exactly opposite on the scale. Yes, I'm referring to Kai.

I'm not sure how he is going to survive in Pimary 1.
He only responds to words like "cars", "play", "TV", "iphone" - he is especially deaf to words like "learn", "read", "write"...

Seriously, I am worried sick when it took ages for me to persuade him to sit at the table to do some writing.
"Come, come here, come and sit here, ... come now, sit here, right NOW!"
"Here, hold this pencil, hold it ... hold it NOW!"
"You just need to trace this alphabet, trace only... don't have to write it yourself"
"Ok, start tracing now."
"start now..."
"what are you doing?"
"I said trace this alphabet"
"hold the pencil properly"
"start tracing now... please"
"put your pencil here... here, here.... start here, at this point... start tracing, start... START!!!!!!!"

I'm serious.
It was this bad.

When is Kai going to primary 1? If not so soon, I guess u still have the time to correct him. As for me, I'm also a little bit worried about YS who is going to P1 next yr, mainly is his command of English. He still need pushing & brushing up on his command in English, and I'm trying my very best to read more stories with him, practice more English assessment books. sigh...

Another year for Kai before he goes to P1, but I'm not too optimistic about it.. he is simply not motivated to learn anything.

As for YS, I think you need not worry, he was very obedient and well-behaved from the last time I saw him at the swimming complex :-) At least he is willing to learn.

i can totally understand how u feel. Did school give u any feedback? My 4yo boy has same problem holding pen to write, basically weak in motor skill. He hates playground. I realise it when he was 3yo. He went thru some assessment, and was given some therapy session. He has improve alot over the therapy sessions and our daily practise.

It maybe medical condition that we may not know how to help him. U may like to talk to his teacher and doctor.
